The FRA400 is a refractive astrograph designed with built-in flat field correction, however due to its generous back focus, it can also be used for visual observations with great success.
The FRA400 is a quintuplet Petzval-like telescope with 400mm focal length, f/5.6 focal ratio and 72mm aperture. To achieve the highest optical quality, it features two special ED glasses.
A 44mm full frame image circle is supported and the generous 140mm backfocus provides great versatility for a wide range of applications.
The telescope tube comes with a retractable dew shield, large 3" rack-and-pinion dual-speed focuser, 360°rotator, 2" eyepiece holder barrel with a 1.25" eyepiece adapter and with M68x1 thread for imaging application. All these provide good support for both visual observations and imaging.
It’s excellent in controlling and possibly avoiding chromatic aberrations, the image quality is also optimized to satisfy a wide range of customer requirements.
It’s worth mentioning that the FRA 400/5.6 has a pair of patented multifunctional attachment tube rings, so in addition to its style, the FRA 400 shows well-conceived design by having a practical three-sided attachment/mounting points, which is convenient for photography with various accessories.
A dedicated, ultra-fast focal reducer AS40007RD is available separately. With the help of this reducer you can achieve an exceptional f/3.9 focal ratio that still supports full frame cameras.
